COGNITIVE DISSONANCE. YAAAAASSS

Wait, whatdoyamean? Who? Where? When?

Ladies and gentleman, YOU yes YOU can hold two contrasting truths at the same time. ⠀⠀

SAY WHAT!?

For example:

♥️ I love myself, AND I have flaws.

♥️ I care deeply about my friends, AND my friends let me down at times.

♥️ I have a healthy relationship, AND my relationship is constantly growing and changing.

♥️ I was raised well by loving parents, AND my parents made/make mistakes. ⠀⠀

If we don’t say to ourselves “yes, and...” are we doing ourselves a disservice by forgetting the other side of the coin? I realize that this isn’t easy and is often the source of anxiety and discomfort, hence the word dissonance. I realize that I will always need to work on it, and try to welcome it because it’s incredibly important to hold two truths in order to increase insight into ourselves and others.
