DON’T SHOULD ON YOURSELF.⁣

Fun fact, therapists DON’T give advice. They have ideas about tools and skills, but the change you create in bettering your life comes from YOU. ⁣

That being said, I’ve got a nugget of wisdom for ya. Take it or leave it! ⁣

STOP 🛑 SAYING “SHOULD.”⁣

Literally. Stop. It. RN ⁣

Saying the word “should” gives this figurative rule book for life (that doesn’t exist) the power to control your actions, thoughts, and mood. ⁣

Who says you SHOULD lose weight? Who says you SHOULD be a better friend? Who says you SHOULD have a salad instead of a burrito? Who says you SHOULD __(insert any thing ever here)__. ⁣

Say: “want, wish, or would like” instead, and if the statement is still true, proceed. If not, erase it from importance. Boom.
